Hello from the Blue Collar Cooperative! With Summer winding down and the new school year underway, we wanted to thank all of the families that attended our classes over the past few months. This summer was full of opportunities to introduce our youngest learners to their first woodworking projects as they built their own tool boxes alongside their parents. It’s been great to watch these kids stick with it even when their arms are tired from sawing boards, to see them grow in confidence as they practice new skills and to see the satisfaction on their faces as they hold something they made with their own hands.
We also had a lot of interest in our Car Care Class this Summer and were able to equip many new or soon-to-be drivers with the skills to maintain their cars and take care of issues like flat tires and dead batteries. This type of training is helping more young people learn how to take responsibility for the vehicles they drive and the confidence to handle minor car trouble when it comes up. After a full Summer schedule, we will be taking a break from classes during the month of October to focus on some other projects before the Winter weather sets in. Our classes will resume in November, here are the upcoming class dates: Basic Woodworking - Parent/Child (child aged 7+) - Nov 16 & 23 (2-4pm over two Saturdays) - Dec 7 & 14 (2-4pm over two Saturdays) Basic Car Care - Youth (ages 13-17) - Nov 12 & 19 (4-6pm over two Tuesdays) - Dec 4 & 11 (4-6pm over two Wednesdays) Click here to schedule a class with us! If you have any questions about our classes or funding programs, feel free to reach out to us at: [email protected]. We look forward to working with you! Many thanks, Tim The Blue Collar Cooperative

Hello from the Blue Collar Cooperative!
We hope you are having a great Summer and staying cool in the soaring temperatures. We’ve had a wonderful start to our Summer classes and we are looking forward to more classes through the end of Summer and into Fall. Our new scheduling program, Schedulicity, has made it easier for everyone to sign up for classes and will be our new method of email communication when it comes to sharing updates on classes and events. If you would like to continue to receive our updates look out for an invite from Schedulicity and sign up, as we will be phasing out of our Mailchimp updates. Of course, you can always reach out to us at [email protected] any time (especially if you haven’t received this invite from Schedulicity). A new class we are offering is the Advanced Car Care class, which will help students go beyond “the basics” when taking care of their car. This new series is a great next step after taking our Basic Car Care class but can also be taken as a stand-alone class if you already have some familiarity with vehicles. Check out our website for more details: Advanced Car Care We've had a number of parents sign up for classes through the Empowering Parents Grant this year and we plan to apply to be a vendor for the 2024-25 grant as soon as we are able. We value the opportunity to make our classes accessible to as many as we can, so if you have any questions about this or other funding programs, feel free to contact us. Another service that we offer are classes that are tailored for small groups or families. If you are having trouble finding class dates that suit your schedule, and have 3 or more children and/or friends who want to do a class with us, reach out and we can try to arrange a time that works for you! Tim The Blue Collar Cooperative Hello from the Blue Collar Cooperative!
We hope you are having a wonderful holiday season and enjoying time with family and friends. We wanted to share with you our new class schedule for January and February and also let you know about some new things that we are involved with. To find all the details for our January and February classes, check out the list below. We are happy to share that The Blue Collar Cooperative has been approved with several student funding programs in Idaho. For those families enrolled with Tech Trep Academy, we wanted to confirmed that our classes fall under their supplemental learning funds. There are other programs in Idaho that are similar to Tech Trep, and though we have yet to officially confirm with those programs, we would be happy to work with you to see if their funding would also cover our classes. Another exciting development is that we have also become approved vendors for the Empowering Parents Grant (for both last year’s grant and the new grant available for 2023-24). We value the opportunity to make our classes accessible to as many as we can, so if you have any questions about these programs, feel free to contact us. Hello everyone, just wanted to give a quick update on the Community Workshop. I've started working on framing for the roof trusses and gathering the next round of materials I'll need for that. Muscles are sore, but progress is being made, so that feels good.
Also, with tons of help from my lovely wife, we have this website and blog up and running. Please take a look around and share it with your friends! Also, don't forget to donate, if you haven't already. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated! What a difference a week makes! I want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who has pitched in to help support this project so far. As of today, we have reached 20 percent of our target goal with $1400 donated!! (Some donations have come outside of this Go Fund Me page, so I have adjusted the overall target to accurately reflect our progress).
I now have 3 walls up and will soon move on to the roof trusses and the front wall. I also want to thank everyone who has come to help me build and lift walls as well as all of you who have shared words of encouragement along the way. My wife, Eliza, has also been helping me create a logo and a website which we hope to launch soon. For now, you can follow "The Blue Collar Co-op" on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086463490273 and on Instagram @bluecollarcoop This truly is a team effort and I am so appreciative. Let's keep this momentum going in week 2 as we work together to meet our goal! After months of researching and planning, construction is finally underway for the workshop! At the beginning of the month, the excavator broke ground for an 18'x26' building and a couple weeks later we had the concrete foundation and pad poured. Over the past couple of weeks, Tim has been working hard in his “spare” time to start framing the walls and has had some friends give him a hand to lift them into place. Things are coming along well and we should be on track to get things closed in before the weather gets too bad. This workshop is a big step towards the beginning of the Blue Collar Cooperative and all that this community workshop will become!
We have saved and worked towards raising the funds to get this small business off the ground but we still need to raise more funds to bring it to conclusion. Would you like to be a part of seeing this dream become a reality? Click on the link below to check out our Go Fund Me site to learn more and donate! |
